Itinerary
(Subject to slight involuntary changes)
DAY 1 - SUNDAY
Arrive at our mesmerizing retreat venue on the outskirts of Granada and settle in before joining everyone for a warm meet & greet circle, followed by a delicious homemade welcome dinner. (Arrival refreshments and dinner included)
DAY 2 - MONDAY
We’ll start the day with a morning yoga session, followed by a homemade breakfast. Then we head into the historic center of Granada for our first wander through the charming Realejo neighborhood.
Lunch is yours to enjoy as you wish—perhaps a tapas tour? In the afternoon, we’ll meet our local guide for a visit to the magnificent Alhambra Palace, one of Spain’s most iconic landmarks. Afterward, we’ll return to our accommodation for a cozy homemade dinner. (Breakfast and dinner included)
DAY 3 - TUESDAY
Begin the day with a peaceful yoga practice before heading out for one of the most authentic local breakfast experiences: “churros con chocolate” at a neighborhood favorite.
After breakfast, we’ll join our guide for a walking tour of Granada’s city center, ending around lunchtime. The rest of the afternoon is yours—explore the city, shop at your leisure, or treat yourself to a traditional Moorish hammam spa experience. For those interested, an optional cooking class is also available.
We’ll reunite in the evening for another cozy homemade dinner back at our retreat home. (Breakfast and dinner included)
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY
Today we start with a quick “cafetería” breakfast on the go as we make our way to the village of Monachil for a half-day hike along the Los Cahorros trail. Expect a scenic adventure: following the river, crossing suspension bridges, and enjoying the peace of the countryside.
We’ll end our hike with a local lunch at a restaurant offering a variety of regional dishes. After returning, you’ll have free time to rest before we come together for a grounding evening yoga practice.
The night is free for you to either rest or head out to explore Granada’s vibrant nightlife—whether that means a quiet wine bar tucked into a historic alleyway or a little midweek dancing (it’s a thing, trust me!).
DAY 5 - THURSDAY
Our final full day begins with yoga and breakfast. You’ll then have some free time to relax at the estate, enjoy a book in the garden, or explore Granada one last time on your own.
In the early afternoon, we’ll meet for a guided tour through two of Granada’s most emblematic neighborhoods: the Albayzin, a former Moorish quarter, and Sacromonte, known for its gypsy culture and cave dwellings.
We’ll cap off the experience with an authentic flamenco show in a cave, followed by our farewell dinner at a very special restaurant: a contemporary culinary gem run by a dear friend. (Breakfast and dinner included)
DAY 6 - FRIDAY
After one final breathwork and guided meditation session and breakfast together, we’ll say goodbye—or rather, hasta la vista. (Breakfast included)

Is this Yoga & Cultural Immersion Retreat for me?
It is for you if:
You are looking for an immersive experience in one of the most amazing cities in the world.
You appreciate having your vacation planned with meticulous attention to detail, allowing you to enjoy a unique and well-curated experience without any worries.
You are excited to call a remodeled Renaissance estate, complete with its own chapel, your home for a few days.
You care about eating well and supporting businesses run by good people.
You are curious about southern Spanish culture, history, traditions, and the modern way of life.
You enjoy walking around to explore all the hidden corners on foot.
You enjoy hiking at a moderate pace and feel comfortable crossing suspension bridges and walking along elevated paths with scenic views.
You feel at ease as part of a small group that includes a mix of people from diverse backgrounds who also want to make the most of this experience.
It is not for you if:
You are looking for a luxury stay. Our accommodation is a privately rented boutique estate with no in-house staff.
You are not comfortable with plant-based meals. All included meals in this itinerary are 100% plant-based, respecting Miriam’s ethical belief that all beings deserve to be happy and free. Since you also have non-included meals scattered around the week, you are welcome to find alternative non-vegan options if you wish (no judgment!).
You are expecting a yoga-focused experience. While there will be yoga, meditation, and breathwork every day, the main focus of this retreat is to immerse you in the cultural experience with the guidance of a local host, not to perfect your headstand.
You want to do your own thing all the time. This is a group trip, and you are expected to follow the itinerary most of the time. However, plenty of free time is included for you to explore or relax on your own.
You don’t like hugs or laughing until your jaw aches. There will likely be a bit of that happening throughout the week, so consider yourself warned :)

About Your Host
Born in what used to be the Military Hospital in Granada, Spain (now the Higher Architecture School), Villa Laguna’s co-owner and host, Miriam, spent the first half of her life exploring all corners of her iconic hometown, the last Moorish kingdom in Europe.
A globetrotter with itchy feet (she has travelled to over 60 countries at this point), Miriam then started moving around, living in the UK, the US, Ethiopia, DR Congo, and finally settling down inside a volcano in Nicaragua, where she has been welcoming people in Villa Laguna as part of group retreats for the last few years.
Miriam is a Hatha Yoga teacher and a Health Coach. Though not many people know this anymore, she holds a BSc in Air Transport Management and spent over a decade in the airline world. These days, she is a bit of a jungle girl and the mistress of all trades at Villa Laguna.
Owned by four rescue dogs and nine cats (at last count) and vegan since 2012, she believes all creatures (human and non-human) deserve to be happy and free. She also believes that dog/cat memes are the solution to most problems these days.
Her biggest inspiration? Her daughter Aixa, who was born still in 2020 and guides her through life from the stars.

What Past Retreat & Group Trip Guests Are Saying
“I had an unforgettable experience in Granada, Spain, thanks to Miriam and her thoughtful planning. With a group of 11 from the US and UK, we were treated to a beautifully curated cultural retreat that blended history, nature, wellness, and community.
Our home base for the week was a charming old Spanish-style mansion in the hills of Cajar, just outside the city. The venue had everything you’d want in a retreat space—beautiful interiors, a serene garden, a pool, fountains, and plenty of room for outdoor yoga. It felt like a peaceful escape from the bustling energy of Granada, while still being close enough to explore it all.
From touring the majestic Alhambra Palace and strolling the old town to hiking the stunning Los Cahorros trail and enjoying an authentic flamenco show, every experience was meaningful. Daily yoga sessions (morning or evening depending on our schedule) helped us stay grounded, and the homecooked vegetarian meals served by the garden made each day feel nourishing and connected.
Thank you, Miriam, for creating a truly special way to experience Granada. This retreat was more than a trip—it was a memory I’ll carry with me for a long time.”
— Sinch P. (USA)
“Granada retreat was a winner! It was active, educational, gastronomical and full of many homey touches such as our home meals which were prepared by Miriam’s mother and Aunt. Every day was extremely well organized and thought through.”
— Audrey H. (USA)
“The trip was amazing, Spain was amazing, the group was fantastic. Learning about and exploring Granada was an experience I'll never forget. Lots of laughter, great food, and great wine. Miriam put together a lovely trip which balanced adventures in the city and nature, downtime and yoga. Even a country wide blackout couldn't stop us! Thank you so much for a wonderful time! Where are we going next?”
