Do Good, Feel Good.
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give" - Winston Churchill
The “Memorias de Aixa” Fund
On July 24th 2020, a couple of weeks before reaching full term, Miriam’s daughter, Aixa, was born still due to a rare pregnancy complication that almost took her life as well. In the weeks following this tragedy, one of our beloved guests had the very kind and generous idea of making a donation to a local NGO in the name of Aixa and her parents, to honor her life.
This incredibly kind gesture planted the seed of what it is today the “Memorias de Aixa” Fund (Memories of Aixa, in Spanish). At a time when Miriam felt hopeless, the idea of creating a fund to collect donations to help local causes to honor her daughter’s life became a ray of light for her.
If you have ever been to Nicaragua, you will know that there is always an opportunity to support people that are in need of a helping hand and animals that require care or assistance. It is for this reason we didn’t want to commit to supporting one specific organization or cause, but to rather be able to choose at a given time, causes big or small that we feel called to.
All reservations at Villa Laguna, whether you are joining a retreat, organizing an event or group experience or simply renting the villa, include a donation to a local animal welfare organization. But, if you feel like you wish to contribute more, we will always be very grateful and guarantee that all the funds will go to the right places!
Check out what we have accomplished with your help so far…

During the first month of this project, we were able to support a few little causes locally, through organizations we know and trust. Christmas gifts for children with disabilities, supplies for a nursing home, hay for horses at a rescue center and the sponsorship of a spay & neuter campaign for a few stray cats.
Would you like to be part of something real?
Join one of our retreats or group experiences (all include a donation!) or if you prefer, make your donation of any amount you wish to the “Memorias de Aixa” Fund, and help us to continue supporting causes that we personally seek to help people and animals who really need us.
