GF/Vegan Easy Recipe: Chocolate Orange Truffles

A delicious guilt-free treat for chocolate lovers 💚

Ready to learn one of the easiest, yet incredibly mouthwatering recipes that comes from our kitchen? You are in luck!

This simple recipe is gluten-free, refined sugar-free, nut-free (don’t be fooled by the walnut in the picture, that was a staging error from the photographer!) and of course, vegan!

It only takes 20 minutes to make and about half and hour to chill… although I must confess I don’t personally wait that long 😋

Let’s dive right in!

Ingredients (for 10 regular sized truffles)

  • 3 cups of dates

  • Zest of half a medium size orange

  • Juice of half a medium size orange

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

  • 3 tablespoons of raw cacao

  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Throw all the ingredients in the food processor and blend well until you get a consistent texture. Depending on what a “medium size orange” means to you, you might need to adjust the ratio of cacao/dates to orange juice, but I trust your judgement on that.

  2. Transfer the mix to a bowl and place in the freezer for about 15 minutes so the mix gets a little hard and therefore easier to manipulate when you are rolling the truffles. You can use this time to check our feed on Instagram so you transport yourself back to the lagoon and get in the right mindset to start rollin’ 😉

  3. Remove from the freezer, and roll into balls that are about an inch. But honestly, you do you, and if you want them to be bigger or smaller, who am I to tell you otherwise.

  4. If you like, you can roll them over some raw cacao (pictured) or leave them as is.

  5. Place them in the freezer and voilà! They should be ready in about half an hour.

Your only job left now is to work on your self-control skills not to eat them at once (not recommended).

How long do they last in the freezer?

That I wouldn’t know, because I have never kept them for long enough to find out. Enjoy!
